CSLB’s Enforcement Efforts to be Profiled by CBS News

SACRAMENTO - CBS News has produced a story that airs tomorrow about unlicensed contractors and the dangers they pose to consumers after a crew from CBS News in New York traveled to California to spend a day with investigators from the Contractors State License Board (CSLB)’s Statewide Investigative Fraud Team (SWIFT) in late September. The news crew was on-hand as SWIFT conducted an undercover sting operation in Redondo Beach that was conducted with the cooperation of the Redondo Beach Police Department Redondo Beach City Attorney’s Office.

CBS Early Show Consumer Correspondent Susan Koeppen—along with a producer, videographer and sound technician—got a first-hand look at how a sting operation is conducted, the cooperation between CSLB and other law enforcement agencies, and the professionalism of CSLB investigators. A total of 14 suspected unlicensed contractors were arrested during the undercover operation.

The segment profiling CSLB’s enforcement efforts is scheduled to air on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. The Early Show airs nationwide from 7:00-9:00 a.m. on the CBS television network. A listing of CBS affiliates in California appears below.
